By using a Chromecast, Android phones are able to broadcast to the large LCD or LED screens. This feature mirrors your phone as well as beams videos from the phone to the big screen.

Android Casting

You can find a Cast option in the modern phones by dragging down from the top of the screen with two fingers to display the Quick Settings pane. If you can’t find this option, there’s another option. Check to make sure you have installed the Google Home app for Android. Open this app, tap Cast screen/audio from the menu, and then choose your Chrome-cast. Your device’s display should mirror on the big screen.

2. Make Text More Visible

Struggling to read the text in your phone because of eyesight problem?
You can resize the text and that’s pretty simple! Open the Android settings and go to Display option. From the Display menu tap the Font (or Font Size), change the font according to your desire and here you go. You may also be provided with a few fonts to choose from to suit your liking. Note that not all the apps will likely to respond to these adjustments, but most of them do.

5. Keep Your Smartphone Battery To An Optimum Level

Your phone’s battery is the most important component among others, and therefore it deserves extra care. Meanwhile, rest assured that the lithium-ion batteries being used by today’s smartphones are more reliable, longer-lasting, and quite safe than ever before.
Keeping the battery between 50 percent to 80 percent seems to be the best. And if possible, try not to let it go below 15 percent. The chemical reactions inside lithium-ion batteries are more comfortable with shorter charge and discharge, rather than being drained down to zero and then recharge all the way up. Also try to use the slow and steady charging method like laptop USB port, or the official charger that comes with the phone.

6. Lock Your Phone Inside One App

There are times when you want to let your friends watch or read something from your phone but at the same time you want to restrain them to that app. This is because you don’t want them to root through your other information like contacts or messages etc. Screen pinning lets you do that in a simple manner. Pinning one app means your phone will only show up that application until someone enters the lock screen code, and this is most probably you – who only know this code. From Settings, go to Security menu. You may have to navigate a bit until you see the option like “Pin Window” or similar. Just enable it. You may find the instructions to pin an app right there.

Now on the window for the most recently opened app, you should see a pin icon (it looks like a little thumbtack) in the lower right-hand corner. Tap the pin button to pin that app to the screen. Now you can safely hand your phone over to your friend.

The Digital Wellness suite (on some devices) shows you what apps you’ve been using, for how long, and provide ways to stop that from happening. The settings menu displays a chart with breaking down apps, and lets you setup a time limit for apps you want to manage. The chart tracks notifications and unlocks as well.

9. “OK Google” Voice Match

Google search is an integral part of all Android phones and you can start searching at any time just by saying “OK Google” on the home screen, but you can get OK Google working everywhere by making little tweaks in Search settings.

In the search settings, go to Voice -> Voice Match. Turn on the “Access with Voice Match” option and the phone will have you say “OK Google” a few times to assimilate your voice. Now you can use this hot-word any time from any screen. Some devices also support this when the screen is off as well.

Are you familiar with OK Google? and got a chance to set it up and hung out with it? If so, you can access the Google Assistant by using “OK Google” or long-press the Home button. Now just start talking. This feature was exclusive to the Pixel for about a few months, but it has been present in all Android phones running Marshmallow or higher. Google Assistant is much more powerful and can comprehend more context and natural language than Google’s voice search feature. It’s great at home automation and searching the web, and it can even read you the news of the day.

If your phone’s OS version is Android 7.0 or higher, you’ll be able to work with two apps at a time in split-screen mode. In order to do this, long-press the Overview button. Your current app will shrink into the top half of the screen (left half in landscape mode), and you can choose another app from your recent list. The amount of screen real estate allotted to each app can be changed by dragging the divider line between the two apps. When you’re done, just long-press the overview button again or drag the divider all the way to the top or bottom. Split-screen mode is a common feature of all devices running Nougat or higher.

12. Notification Channels

Rolled out from Android 8.0 Oreo, Google made it easier to maintain the notifications noise. Apps now have notification channels, so you can configure how their various alerts appear, and whether they should appear at all. To edit a notifications channel, go to the app’s info screen or long-press on a notification and tap “Details.” Then you can individually turn each channel on or off, change the way it appears. In Pie, the device will also suggest to disable a channel if you frequently dismiss it.

Google hides some of the more advanced tools in a special Developer Options menu that you’ll have to enable to access things like animation speed, USB debugging, and app standby. In order to turn on Developer Options, open the “About phone” menu at the bottom of the system settings and find the build number.
